Item No. 5 To organise RBSMs in future

Council in order to identify sustainable marketing solutions and facilitate adaptation of Handloom’s journey from tradition to contemporary trends has conceptualized “India International Handwoven Fair” (IIHF)-an exclusive international fair for Handwoven products in 2011. The event was organised as Reverse Buyer Seller Meet (RBSM), IIHF has grown from 50 Foreign Buyers and 80 Indian Exporters in 2011 to 114 Foreign Buyers and 171 Indian Exporters in 2016. IIHF has seen tremendous increase in terms of business generation from Rs.19 crores during 2013 to Rs.29 crore during 2014. Even during global recession, business generation was Rs.14.67 crore during 2016 edition.

Council was planning to organise 7th edition of IIHF during March 2017 in Chennai, however, due to Textiles India 2017 participation, (Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad) IIHF 2017 – 7th edition was merged with Textiles India 2017.

As per the minutes of 208th EC meeting held on 21.03.2017, EC members advised Council to seek views from all member exporters with regard to holding IIHF in future and if yes, the place (Chennai / Delhi) for organising IIHF (RBSM) or not to hold RBSM.
